Onze cattery!
Cattery Daicey Pond is een cattery gevestigd in de Drechtstreek op zo'n 20 kilometer van Rotterdam. Wij, Norbert en Marian van der Harst, hebben als passie onze cattery Daicey Pond. Samen vinden wij deze hobby geweldig!!

Het fokken
Wij nemen het fokken serieus en proberen gezonde, lieve en typevolle Coons te fokken. Dit doen we bijvoorbeeld aan de hand van een fokplan waarin we nauwkeurig en kritisch zullen kijken naar de (uiterlijke) kenmerken en karakter eigenschappen van de Coons.
Ook de socialisatie van onze kittens nemen wij erg serieus.
Vanaf het eerste moment proberen wij de kittens overal bij te betrekken. Dit doen we onder andere door de kittens in de huiskamer te laten opgroeien te samen met onze honden Bas en Maxime.

Gezondheid
Omdat gezondheid voor ons heel belangrijk is worden onze Coons voor ieder nestje getest op mogelijke afwijkingen zoals HCM, PKD en Patella Luxatie. Dit zal uitsluitend gedaan worden door een door de Rasclub Maine Coon (RMC) erkend instituut.
Recentelijk zijn wij ook gestart met het testen van onze fok Coons op HCM door DNA.
Dit onderzoek wordt gedaan door Laboklin te Duitsland.
Onze Coons worden uiteraard ook altijd voor ieder nestje getest op FELV en FIV. Wanneer u deze testen wilt zien of meer informatie wilt... Laat het ons weten!
Wellicht overbodig om te vermelden maar onze Coons worden door onze dierenarts regelmatig onderzocht.

Voeding
Wij stellen hoge eisen aan de voeding van onze katten. Naast een verantwoorde brok (Sanabelle en Iams) geven wij onze Coons dagelijks verse natuurlijke voeding. Dit kan zijn kippenekken, lamshart, kippenhart, kippenlevers, kippenkarkassen, kippenmaagjes en eendagskuikens. Deze versevoeding houdt het tandvlees en het gebit van onze coons gezond en schoon en bevat veel voedingstoffen. Wij ervaren het alsof het iedere dag weer een ware traktatie is voor onze coons. Andere cattery's / links
Op onze site treft u ook links aan naar andere cattery's.
De samenwerking met andere cattery's is noodzakelijk om een ras gezond te houden. Wij zullen uitsluitend samenwerken met serieuze cattery's. Het is fijn dat wij, ondanks zelf al een aantal nestjes te hebben gefokt, gebruik kunnen maken van de kennis en ervaringen die andere cattery's reeds bezitten. Andersom zullen wij uiteraard onze ervaringen graag delen met andere cattery's.
Onze cattery is geregistreed bij de Fife vereniging Mundikat

En dan nu de naam!
Waar komt onze cattery naam vandaan? Omdat we "outdoor en water" liefhebbers zijn vonden we het een leuk idee om onze cattery naam in deze sfeer te houden.
Wij zijn op de kaart van Maine gaan zoeken en vonden het Baxter State Park. In park ligt n een meertje genaamd Daicey Pond.

Our Cattery
Cattery Daicey Pond is established at about 20 km from Rotterdam. For us, Norbert and Marian van der Harst, the cattery is our passion. We both find this hobby fantastic!

Breeding
We taking breeding very seriously. Are goal is to breed healthy, sweet en typefull Maine Coons. We try to accomplish this threw a breeding plan. In this plan we will look very precise and critically to the looks and characters of our coons.
Also the socialisation of our kittens we take very seriously. From the first moment on we try to make the kittens part of all things happening in our home. We do this for example by letting them grow up in our livingroom, together with our dogs Bas and Maxime.

Health
Because we find the health of our cats and kittens who are born in our cattery very very important, our cats will be tested on possible healthproblems like HCM, PKD, and Patella Luxation. These tests will only be done by a institute who works according the rules of the RMC (Dutch Maine Coon club). Since March 2006 we also started to test on HCM dna. These tests are done by Laboklin in Germany. Ofcourse our coons are also always tested on FELV and FIV before each litter. If you want so see these test or if you have a question..Please let us know!
Perhaps unnescesairy to mention but our cats are regularly checked by a our vet.

Food
We have high standards for the food we give to our cats. Together with high qualtity dry food (Sanabelle and Iams) we daily feed our coons fresh and natural food. This can be chickennecks, lamb heart, chickenhearts, chickenlivers, chicken stomach and baby chicken (one day old). This fresh food keeps the teeth of our coons nice and clean and gives have a high nutrive value. Our experience is that it seems to be a real treat for them every day. Other cattery's / links
On our site you can find links to other cattery’s. Working with other cattery’s is very important to us and but most of all for the breed. We only work with responsible breeders. Therefor we only have links on our page of cattery’s who have kittens from our cattery or cattery where we got our cats from. And ofcourse breed in a healty way.
It’s nice to share expericiences with other cattery’s although we breed several litters. On the other hand we also are willing to share our experiences with other cattery’s.
Our cattery is registered at the Fife organisation Mundikat

And then the catteryname
Where does the name Daicey Pond come from? Because we are outdoorlovers we thought it was a great idea to find a catteryname with a link to outdoor.
We searched on the map of Maine and found the Baxter State Park. In this park there is a lake (pond) which is called Daicey Pond.
